The first hollow fiber optic cable in China is being put into commercial use in Shenzhen

On August 5th, 2025, China Mobile announced that China's first fully independent intellectual property anti resonant hollow fiber optic cable was put into commercial use in Shenzhen and landed on the Shenzhen Hong Kong financial special line, marking China's leap from laboratory prototypes to commercial products in the field of next-generation optical communication core technology.


It is reported that this anti resonant hollow fiber commercial line mainly serves the data transmission between Shenzhen and Hong Kong Stock Exchanges, reducing the transmission delay of cross-border securities trading between Shenzhen and Hong Kong to 1 millisecond, and will continue to be optimized in the future. In addition, the fiber loss achieved 0.09dB/km, breaking the record for the lowest loss of commercial fiber optic cables worldwide.
